Bowling Glossary
Wall
An easy lane condition so called because it acts like a wall. You can yank the ball and it will hold pocket.
Washout
Technically not a split because the headpin is standing, but there is space between some of the pins on the leave. Typically it is the 1,2,4,10 for a righty and the 1,3,6,7 for a lefty. There are also other combinations.
Weight Block
The interior part of a ball that compensates for the weight of the material taken out when the grip is drilled in a bowling ball.
Wind It Up
Throw the ball with lots of revolutions for a large amount of hook.
Wood
Pins in both the physical sense and scoring sense.
Working Ball
A ball that creates a lot of pin action.
Wrap Around
A shot where a pin misses another one by going around it.
